How is Harapan to form govt with seat disputes, asks PAS VP

PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah today questioned the credibility of Pakatan Harapan which he said wanted to become the government but at the same time did not adopt the spirit of tolerance among its component parties.

Mohd Amar said in fact, now the people could see and evaluate for themselves the disputes and arguments in the opposition pact especially over state seat allocation including in Kelantan.

“We as voters will surely have doubts to choose Harapan as the government as they are unable to demonstrate their tolerance in managing their own party.

“So how can they be a good and effective government?” he told reporters after the state executive council meeting at Kota Darul Naim Complex in Kota Baru today.

It was reported that last Monday that the Kota Bharu Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) division had expressed dissatisfaction over the constraints faced by the party including in the state seat allocation which was said to have been dominated by Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

According to an online news portal report, the Kelantan Harapan had held six meetings for state seat allocation but had yet to reach a consensus on the matter.

'Greedy for seats'

The online portal also reported that as of last Saturday, Amanah was said to have been allocated 17 state seats while eight seats for PPBM, five seats for PKR and one for DAP.

Asked whether the dispute over the seat allocation was due to the fact that PPBM leadership bowed to pressure from DAP, Mohd Amar who is also Kelantan deputy menteri besar said there was a possibility of that.

“It is possible (the PPBM leadership bows to pressure from DAP), but the big issue is that if they cannot solve it amicably, how can they be a good government. That is a big question and people can see and evaluate.

"(Parties in Harapan) may also be greedy for the seats because each of them feels that they are strong. Everyone wants more seats," he said. - Bernama
