GE14 | The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will work with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and agencies overseas to monitor individuals who are likely to trigger a 'Surprise Last Minute Attack' (SLMA) during the 14th general election.

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussien said MAF chief Gen Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun were always working together and shared information with each other if there were irresponsible parties trying to take advantage of certain situations and make threats.

"As of today I see the situation is still under control, but we should not take for granted what we enjoy today.

"Peace does not come easily without cooperation, support, sincerity, honesty and determination from the authorities," Hishammuddin told a press conference after officiating the 'Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat' (JSR) programme at the Seroja Hall in Kem Kementah, Kuala Lumpur, today.

He said this when asked to comment on Fuzi's statement that PDRM had identified about 1,100 individuals and organisations who could potentially conduct a 'surprise last-minute attack' aimed at causing a riot during GE14.

Asked if there were MAF personnel involved in SLMA, Hishammuddin said he would not compromise and would take action against them if any of them were found provoking such a situation.

"Officers or members of the MAF will not be spared if they go against the law," he said.

Earlier, at the Ministry of Defence, a JSR programme was also held to reduce the cost of living among MAF personnel by selling basic necessities at five to 20 percent lower than market prices.

Among the items sold were rice, flour, cooking oil, sugar, onions, chicken, fish, milk powder and eggs.
