Zambry rubbishes Perak Harapan's 'recycled' manifesto

GE14 | Perak BN chairperson Zambry Abd Kadir has described the state Pakatan Harapan manifesto as having been recycled, without changes for the progress of the state and people.

Zambry said no new policies and plans were offered to the people but wild accusations were deliberately raised to discredit the caretaker state government.

“One of their arguments is that Perak is the second poorest state in the country. They have repeatedly said this despite being refuted, not only by me, but by national economic experts.

“It is important that the manifesto explain to the people about the policies, fundamentals and future plans for Perak, and what they can provide for the people of Perak, as an alternative,” he told a press conference after officiating the Orang Asli Community Leaders Meeting here today.

Yesterday, the Perak Pakatan Harapan announced the coalition’s manifesto which encompassed five thrusts covering 31 pledges to be implemented if given the mandate to form the state government.

The five thrusts include aspects of welfare and economy, trust and integrity, social justice and democracy, a culture of knowledge and research, and environment and community.

Zambry believes the people of Perak will not be influenced by the arguments and sweet promises offered in the opposition’s manifesto.

Commenting on a meeting with BN chairperson Najib Tun Razak on Sunday, Zambry said it was regarding the list of candidates contesting in the GE14, adding that Perak BN had still not finalised the list.

Meanwhile, elaborating on what the BN had done for the Orang Asli in the state, he said the state government had approved 13,652 hectares of land to be used as settlements and agriculture for the Orang Asli in Perak over the past three years.

“Perak is the first state in Malaysia to gazette land for settlements and agriculture for the Orang Asli. The gazetting process will continue to be done from time to time as it is needed for them to continue their daily lives," he said.

Zambry also presented letters of appointment to 159 of the 176 Orang Asli tok batin in the state and a bonus of RM500 per person as tabled in the 2018 Perak Budget, at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Perak’s Orang Asli leaders’ representative, Sahar Husin, said the Orang Asli community in the state would continue to support Perak BN led by Zambry as it had made significant changes in terms of development and progress.
