GE14 | Caretaker Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali has met with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to discuss the crisis concerning the party's candidates' list for the coming general election.
The meeting is believed to have taken place at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital.
According to Nanyang Siang Pau, Azmin denied knowledge about the speculation that PKR would announce its candidates tonight at the Kuala Selangor stadium.
“I believe the candidates' list which is spreading is not true.
“In other words, if we can finish discussions by tonight then we will announce it. However, as far as I know, tonight is just a campaign activity,” he said.
Although the nomination of candidates for the May 9 general election is on Saturday, the PKR deputy president said there is still room for further discussion on this matter.
“According to the procedure, the divisions will recommend candidates to the state level, and the state will pass it to the central leadership.
“I had met the president (Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) last week. This morning, I discussed with Anwar,” he added.
Meanwhile, Azmin also said there was still room to discuss the status of incumbent Batu lawmaker Tian Chua and Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei.
He was also not sure about the poison-pen letter, which Gan told an emotionally-charged press conference this afternoon might result in her being dropped as a candidate.
Gan had claimed that the letter, which accused her of abusing the allocation for her constituency, originated from within PKR.
She also welcomed MACC to investigate the matter.
Yesterday, Tian, whose name was also reportedly dropped from the candidates' list, singled out Wan Azizah and Anwar.
He said the husband and wife pair should not cave in to pressure in order to keep PKR united.
It was also speculated that the crisis stemmed from the protracted tussle between the camps led by Azmin and vice-president Rafizi Ramli.
