GE14 | PKR candidates for the 14th general election found themselves hopping from one venue to the other today following a hastily arranged session for them to collect their appointment letters.
According to several party sources, the candidates were told to gather at a hotel in Subang Jaya at 8am this morning.
However, they were told that the gathering was merely a briefing and that the letters, which will also enable them to use the PKR logo in the May 9 election, must be collected at the party headquarters at Tropicana, Petaling Jaya.
But prior to collecting the letters, the PKR candidates are expected to join other Pakatan Harapan candidates for yet another briefing at the Petaling Jaya Civic Centre at 3pm.
Meanwhile, party sources told Malaysiakini that most of them only knew of the briefing session and collection of the letters either late last night or early this morning.
"I think not all managed to make it. I received notice about today's briefing late last night.
"I'm not sure about the others, but I guess there must be some candidates who can't make it," said one source.
A PKR candidate from East Malaysia said only a handful of candidates from his state were present.
"Others couldn't make it because of the last-minute notification," said the candidate.
The closed-door briefing at the hotel today was conducted by PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
This hastily arranged briefing followed the surprise announcement of PKR's candidates for Selangor last night.
Unlike other major parties, PKR has not held any formal events to introduce candidates in individual states. It instead resorted to releasing the full list of its candidates through a statement today.
Recent statements from various PKR leaders had alluded to fissures in the party over president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's preferred list of candidates.
