Beleaguered International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz today said she has fully recovered from a knee operation.

According to Bernama , the veteran politician - dubbed the 'Iron Lady' - appeared cheerful when surrounded by reporters at a function in Kuala Lumpur.

"I have recovered completely. I just have to take care of my leg. I will follow the doctor's advice. I feel I will be able to walk normally in a week," said Rafidah who was walking with the aid of a cane.

The minister underwent a surgery two weeks ago amid a raging storm over the Approved Permits (AP) scandal.

"I am becoming better although I am still afraid to walk on my own as it is a false kneecap hence I have to be careful," she said.

She added that she was working after the surgery from home and the hospital despite being given a two-weeks leave by the doctor.

"The first two days (after the surgery) I felt weak but on the third day, I felt more comfortable and started working as there was much work to be done.

"I don't like to have work piling up in the office," she added.

After her surgery, Rafidah had met with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Shoici Nakagawa in the hospital.

However, the minister this morning refused to entertain any questions apart from those pertaining to the function she was attending.
