GE14 | Entering the 14th general election, the sleepy town of Sekinchan has suddenly become the place to party, as BN throws residents a feast from crab to duck dishes as well as prizes ranging from cash to motorcycles and kitchen appliances.
Irked by this, the DAP this evening lodged a police report, claiming that the action was tantamount to vote buying and BN candidates there had committed election offences.
Kwi Ai Mei, who is assisting DAP's campaign in the state seat, lodged the police report at the Sekinchan police station at around 4pm today.
She cited BN's concert event yesterday where its Sungai Besar candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi, Sungai Panjang candidate Mohd Imran Tamrin and Sekinchan candidate Lee Yee Yuan were present.
"During the event, the candidates, through a lucky draw, distributed gifts in the form of electrical appliances (such as television, fridge and washing machine) and a motorcycle to voters," she said.
Kwi, in the police report, also named Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos, who gave out a RM25,000 in prize money.
Earlier that day, Jamal had also promised the Sekinchan fisherfolk RM2,000 each if BN wins the seat.
“I am not lying... once Lee wins in Sekinchan, you can come here and we will hold an event for all, as I have a donor," he said.
