Supporter unfazed over confiscation as Najib is well-off

A staunch supporter of Najib Abdul Razak said today the former prime minister has no qualms about amassing a huge wealth because he comes from a rich family.
As such, Gabungan Gerakan NGO Selangor chief Nazilah Idris said, there was nothing to be disputed about the police confiscation of 72 bags of cash and jewellery, as well as 284 boxes of high-end designer handbags from two condominium units linked to Najib in Kuala Lumpur.
"He was the son of the then prime minister (Abdul Razak Hussein). He is a blueblood and he was well off from young, he then became menteri besar," Nazilah told reporters after she visited Najib at his Taman Duta residence.
"Definitely, an ordinary businessman will be well-off. So what is there to dispute the jewellery and handbags taken by the police?" she asked.
"Not only they (Najib and his family), but anyone can buy these brands. I don't think this should be an issue as this has nothing to do with the 1MDB case," she said.
Nazilah believes that more pieces of jewellery and cash can be found in any house that is bigger than Najib's.
She said Najib looked so calm and healthy during their short meeting.
Anyone, who is guilty of a wrongdoing would not appear to be this calm, she said.
Thus, she believes that Najib is a great man to be able to retain his composure in facing all these plights.
Najib is being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 over the 1MDB scandal.
Police started a non-stop raid at the premises linked to Najib on the night of May 16, the eve of the holy fasting month for Muslims.
Last night, police confiscated cash, jewellery and 284 boxes of high-end designer handbags from the upmarket Pavilion Residences in Kuala Lumpur
Handbags planted?
Meanwhile, another visitor to Najib's house today who said he was an Umno member questioned if designer handbags were planted at the premises linked to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Teluk Kemang Umno division member Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahim said nobody could prove the bags were indeed taken from the premises linked to Najib.
"I don't know what bags they had found, maybe the bags been planted, we don't know what," he said when met at Najib's residence at Taman Duta.
"Are you sure the handbags were found in the houses? Who can prove that?" he questioned.
He said the authorities could find fault with anyone they wanted.
"That's their job. If they want to find fault, they can find fault. Even you, there is no guarantee that they cannot find fault with you," he told reporters.
