National Film Development Corporation (Finas) director-general Fauzi Ayob has confirmed that officers from the MACC paid a visit to their headquarters in Hulu Kelang on June 7 over alleged misappropriation of allocations.  

In a statement today, Fauzi said Finas had cooperated fully with the officers, and that the agency would not compromise with any party involved in corruption, leakage, or abuse of power.

"If there are such elements which are against the law, stern action must be immediately taken to tackle the issue," he said.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said yesterday that he was informed by the MACC about their visit to Finas, pertaining to several questionable financial allocations it received for the year 2017.  

“The Communications and Multimedia Ministry will neither tolerate nor compromise in any matter involving elements of corruption, leakage or abuse of power in any agency or department under its jurisdiction,” he had said.

These, he added, would weaken the competition necessary to expand the local film industry.
