The former editor-in-chief for DAP mouthpiece the Rocket Wan Hamidi Hamid has reportedly been offered the job of Bernama CEO, according to sources.

A source told The Star that the political education director will assume the position at the national news agency next month when current CEO Zulkefli Salleh retires.

Malaysiakini, however, has learned that no official offer letter has yet been issued for the job.

The Star reported that Bernama chairperson Azman Ujang and the rest of the board will be meeting soon to endorse the appointment.

Wan Hamidi declined to comment when contacted.

Besides his post in Federal Territories DAP, the veteran journalist is also the deputy director of DAP-linked think tank Research for Social Advancement (Refsa).

Malaysiakini has contacted Azman and Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo for comment.
