A Road Transport Department (JPJ) staff was remanded for six days beginning today to assist in investigations into a corruption case involving expired vehicle licences.

A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source said the remand order against the 37-year-old suspect was issued by Temerloh High Court senior assistant registrar Ti Pei Si.

The administrative assistant (clerical operations) at the Temerloh JPJ branch was picked up at his office at noon yesterday.

He is being investigated under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.

The man is suspected to have received bribes as an inducement to extend the expiry date for vehicle licences which had expired for over a year without having to undergo inspections at Puspakom centres.
