UMNO AGM | Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has called on party leaders who are embroiled in scandals to quit with honour.

"To Umno leaders at all levels, Umno Youth today wishes to remind you, anyone who feels that they are involved in any deviation, quit with honour.

"Don't use the party as a shield, don't drag the party into your personal scandals," he said during his opening speech at the wing's assembly in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

However, Asyraf did not mention names.

Earlier in his speech, the Youth chief said the party leadership's involvement in the 1MDB scandal had contributed to Umno's defeat in the May 9 general election.

Umno's former president Najib Abdul Razak has been slapped with 25 charges related to 1MDB, including 21 charges of money laundering and four charges of abuse of power.

Asyraf, who won the Umno Youth chief position in the party's July election, said the Youth wing must be bold with its criticism, including of leaders, to ensure the party remains on the right track and does not betray the people's agenda.

He also pledged support for MACC, and volunteered to cooperate with the commission.

"Umno Youth wishes to volunteer our cooperation with MACC, Malaysian Integrity Institute, and the National Integrity and Good Governance Department, and anyone who can help Umno Youth improve in all aspects of organisational governance and integrity," he added.
