Rosmah Mansor has been issued a notice to present herself at the Anti-money Laundering and Anti-terrorism Financing Prevention Unit (Amla) at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent next week.

One of the lawyers representing the wife of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak confirmed that Rosmah would give her statement to the police on Oct 25, at the Menara KPJ on Jalan Tun Razak.

It is learned that the notice, which Rosmah received yesterday, did not specify the reason she is being summoned, other than to facilitate investigations under Amla.

"But we believe it is related to the seized items, notably the jewellery," said the lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A police source had earlier said that Rosmah was initially summoned to have her statement recorded in relation to the seized jewellery this Friday, but the lawyer said his client had requested for a change of date due to an unspecified reason.

"She will facilitate investigations which revolve around the ownership and the purchase of the jewellery, among others," said the source without divulging further details.

In June, Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Amar Singh revealed that police had seized jewellery items worth RM440 million from Najib-linked properties in their investigations into 1MDB.

These include 1,400 necklaces, 2,200 rings, 2,100 bangles, 2,800 earrings, 1,600 brooches and 14 tiaras.

Other than that, police also seized 567 handbags worth more than RM51.3 million, 423 watches and 234 sunglasses, valued at RM79 million and RM374,000 respectively.

On Oct 4, Rosmah was slapped with a total of 17 charges, comprising 12 counts of money laundering involving RM7,097,750, and five counts for failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board.

Last month, Najib claimed trial to 25 charges of graft and money laundering in relation to transactions amounting to RM2.3 billion, which are believed to be linked to 1MDB.
