Najib shows up to give Zahid 'moral support'

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak spent about 30 minutes today at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex and said to reporters that he had come to give “moral support” to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is facing prosecution.

Najib arrived at 9.17am and entered the complex where Zahid has been brought to face charges. He left at 9.50am.

Other Umno leaders who were at the complex were deputy president Mohamad Hasan, vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob and secretary-general Annuar Musa.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested Zahid at 3.15pm yesterday.

Zahid faces 45 charges under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

The Sessions Court allowed him bail of RM2 million.
