Yoursay: Najib, a fighter? No, he acts more like a coward

YOURSAY | ‘Najib is probably delusional, a man in denial, and a man who comes to believe his own lie…’

I salute the ‘fighter’ in Najib

Anonymous 7478653098613829: I have always enjoyed the writings of Malaysiakini columnist Francis Paul Siah, but I am not sure where he is going with this article.

He is exclaiming that former PM Najib Abdul Razak possesses extraordinary fighting spirit which warrants an article to highlight that spirit.

Extraordinary? Najib is more like a drowning man to me. Siah used superlatives like “indomitable fighting spirit”. Surely that is too much an exaggeration, right?

I have just described elsewhere that Najib is a coward who walked away from hard questions in the Al Jazeera interview, not to mention fleeing from Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the ‘Nothing to Hide’ forum or avoiding giving a key speech at an international anti-corruption conference in Malaysia.

Siah then argued that other corrupt leaders would have attempted to flee after losing power but not Najib.

Najib was to leave with his family immediately after the election when things were still in a turmoil and Siah believed he is just going off for a short holiday? I am sure Siah is not that naive.

Siah then gave credit to Najib for being in Parliament frequently when he was not called up by MACC. Do you call that an achievement when he is being paid to attend parliamentary sittings? It is his duty! Can Siah tell us how frequent Najib attended parliamentary sittings when he was the PM?

The only thing I can agree with Siah is when he stated that no one is interested in Najib’s legacy, economic policies or achievements.

When Siah claimed that Najib had the “rare prowess of defending the indefensible”, I was getting ready to vomit. Had Siah said that of Mahathir or Lim Kit Siang, I would have agreed.

But for someone who talks baloney, it is hardly a noteworthy “rare prowess”. It is basically desperation.

Anonymous 428911434555133: Siah, I hope you do not teach your children to feel no remorse, or not to be repentant when they do wrong, to deny everything, to twist and turn and to fight till the end so that they can be admired by you.

All the best to your children if they are raised up in that manner.

Vintage9: Najib is probably delusional, a man in denial, and a man who comes to believe his own lie after repeating it so often. Or he is like a desperate rat cornered, fighting for his life and lashes out at everything.

Either explanation has more credence than believing he is a brave soul with a positive attribute of standing up for his own beliefs. The things he says do not seem logical and borders on stupidity.

He is still trying to bend the facts to fit his own story. The more he talks, the more the public gets angry for being reminded of his misdeeds and unrepentant nature. And the more we want to see him punished for it.

Of course, just like him making all the "assumption" in his Al Jazeera interview, I am also assuming his guilt.

But then, any thinking reasonable man looking at the evidence adduced so far from both overseas and local government, there is a high probability we are right.

So Siah, your praising of Najib is either misdirected or you have a sadistic wish to encourage him to continue with the "fighting spirit" so as to see him rile the public more and direct more abhorrence towards him.

EmEmKay: I, as a Malaysian, actually thank Najib. If Najib did not carry out all the corruption, misappropriation and embezzlement, then the people would not have voted out BN in GE14.

Frankly, it was a blessing in disguise that Umno and cohorts carried out all these wrongdoings. The people saw it and decided to vote them out and indirectly, Malaysia has a working two-party system in place.

As such, it is necessary that BN survives; otherwise, it defeats the two-party system that we are looking forward to.

Najib's trial live on TV? Good idea, says Shafee

Caripasal: What is so special about Najib to be granted TV trial? He has brought enough shame to Malaysia.

Why do we need another live telecast that would bring more shame to our country?

Doc: The recently TV endeavour for Najib did not end well. What makes lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah think that Najib will make it through prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram's tough questioning on the stand with no option to cabut lari (run away) like what happened at the Al-Jazeera interview?

Ruben: Shafee, you are a man of contradictions. First, you wanted a gag order, now you want the whole world to watch.

Darmakochi: Shafee wants a live telecast for some melodrama. We, the people, have complete confidence in our present judiciary system, unlike the time during the infamous kleptocrat.

Anonymous_1371463676: There is no need to go live. I’m just interested in the final verdict. Evil will be defeated!

Cogito Ergo Sum: Shafee, even Perry Mason will pale in comparison to your courtroom antics and sense of drama.

But I doubt you will have the fans that the TV lawyer had and the viewers will be rooting for the prosecution.

Yes, let’s hope they allow a live telecast of the trial.
