Students at the International Medical University at Bukit Jalil were evacuated following a bomb threat today.
An employee at the university, who declined to be named, told Malaysiakini that they were asked to evacuate the building around 2pm after the management was alerted of the threat.
So far, details on the threat are sketchy as police are in the midst of their investigation.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon confirmed that police were informed about the threat.
"We have received the information and the police are taking the next course of action according to the standard operating procedure," he told Malaysiakini through a text message.
According to the employee, the police have blocked the road near the university entrance from the public.
"The police have arrived. The students were asked to evacuate the building," he said.
He added that the university management had informed the students that academic activities would be postponed for today.
They were refrained from speculating on the incident and sharing it on social media.
ACP Mohamed Mokhsein later said that at 4.30pm, the police's Bomb Disposal Unit wrapped up its investigation after confirming that there's no bomb in the area.
The students and employees were then allowed to enter the building.
