PKR lawmaker exposes 'Why Anwar cannot be PM' manuscript

As PKR faces a potential fallout due to a sex scandal, a lawmaker has now exposed a manuscript for a book which details reasons why its president Anwar Ibrahim should not become the prime minister.
Johari Abdul also pointed to Chapter 15 of the book, "Mengapa Anwar tak boleh jadi PM (Why Anwar cannot be PM)", which he said promoted another leader whom the author felt was more qualified for the post.
Although he did not mention the name of the leader, the title for Chapter 15 reads “Azmin Ali Bakal PM (Azmin Ali next prime minister).”
Since the sex videos implicating Azmin surfaced last week, there have been not so subtle claims from his faction that Anwar could be behind it.
Yesterday, Azmin, who described the videos as a part of a campaign to decimate his political career, said he is convinced that it was an inside job.
'Homosexual, corrupt, US and Zionist agent'
Speaking at a press conference in Petaling Jaya this evening, Johari said he would lodge a police report on the manuscript, which he received on June 10, later.
The Sungai Petani MP identified the author as one Yahaya Ismail.
“I don't know him. But I believe he is a hired writer.
“I have read the entire manuscript and found that it is replete with revolting and grave slander towards Anwar,” he added.
Among them was that the PKR president engaged in homosexual acts, corrupted and a US and Zionist agent.
Johari said when he informed Anwar (above) about the manuscript, the latter told him that such writers were common.
“But I told Anwar, you can't let this kind of person go. This has to stop,” he added.
The manuscript is reminiscent of what transpired during Dr Mahathir Mohamad's first tenure as prime minister where a book titled “50 Dalil Kenapa Anwar Tidak Boleh Menjadi Perdana Menteri” (50 reasons why Anwar cannot become prime minister) was circulated.
This had set the tone for Mahathir sacking Anwar as deputy premier in September 1998 after accusing him of being involved in sodomy and abuse of power.
Anwar, however, maintained that the charge was fabricated by Mahathir and his cohorts.
Agong's decision to pardon Anwar questioned
Meanwhile, Johari said while he supported those who exposed corruption scandals, these must be based on facts instead of concocted claims.
According to him, the manuscript also contained elements which questioned the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decision to pardon Anwar over his Sodomy II conviction, which the PKR president claimed was false as well.
“The writer not only disputes but also belittles the institution of Malay rulers. This is inappropriate because the Agong acted within the law (in pardoning Anwar),” he added.
Johari said while the author had the right and freedom to air his opinion on who is more suitable to be prime minister, it must not be done at the expense of slandering another person.
“The country's leadership and the people of Malaysia reject gutter politics...
“I understand that the author is 70 years old. Imagine what would happen to the younger generation if such cheap writing is served to them.
“It is because of this, I decided to expose the manuscript before it is printed,” he added.
