MIC president S Samy Vellu today said he will expose the share ownership of his deputy S Subramanian in leading Tamil daily, Malaysia Nanban .
"Give me two days...did he (Subramaniam) deny the
NST
(
New Straits Times
) report that he has 50 per cent share in Malaysia Nanban?
"Did he also say he gave it to someone else to keep the shares and the party is not giving it back? Ask him to remember properly," he was quoted as saying by Bernama .
Malaysia Nanban and another Tamil newspaper, Makkal Osai , have come under fire from the party president over a report which claimed that he said former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad had not helped the Indian community.
Samy Vellu, who accused the dailies of distorting his statements, said they were aligned to his estranged deputy.
Subra denies
At a press conference this afternoon, Subramaniam reiterated that he no longer had an interest in Malaysia Nanban.
"I have previously said that I had some interest in
Malaysia Nanban
, which was denied by some groups. So there is nothing more that I want to add," he said when quizzed on the matter today.
He was believed to be referring to his stake through a nominee in Malaysia Nanban's previous publisher Edenline Sdn Bhd.
According to sources, the nominee refused to acknowledge Subramaniam's claim over the stake.
Reporter rapped
Presently, the daily is published by Pernerbitan Sahabat (M) Sdn Bhd, a company said to be fully owned by businessman and newspaper license holder Sikandar Batcha Abdul Majeed.
In another development, it is learnt that Samy Vellu during a press conference blew-up at a Malaysia Nanban reporter in full view of delegates and media representatives at the party's Youth and Wanita nominations.
Upon seeing the reporter speaking on a mobile phone, the party president is said to have accused him of 'secretly passing messages' and ordered him out of the premises.
The reporter then explained that he was merely answering a call from his mother. However, the reporter left the premises when Samy Vellu launched a tirade against Malaysia Nanban.
