Trump says WHO is China-centric, 'really blew it' on coronavirus
CORONAVIRUS | US President Donald Trump (above) sharply criticised the World Health Organization on Tuesday, accusing it of being too focused on China and issuing bad advice during the coronavirus outbreak.
"The WHO really blew it," Trump said in a Twitter post. "For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China-centric. We will be giving that a good look. Fortunately, I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?"
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric rejected the criticism of the World Health Organization, which is led by Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"For the Secretary-General (Antonio Guterres) it is clear that WHO, under the leadership of Dr Tedros, has done tremendous work on Covid-19, in supporting countries with millions of pieces of equipment being shipped out, on helping countries with training, on providing global guidelines - WHO is showing the strength of the international health system," he told reporters.
Dujarric added that the WHO had also recently done "tremendous work" in putting its staff on the frontlines to successfully fight Ebola, an infectious and often fatal disease, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The WHO did not respond to a Reuters request for comment on Trump's remarks.
Trump also attacked the US Health Department on Tuesday, accusing the inspector general of having produced a "fake dossier" on American hospitals suffering shortages of personal protective equipment on the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak. Trump did not provide any reason for questioning the report on those shortages.
On Jan 31, the United Nations health organisation advised countries to keep borders open despite the outbreak, although it noted that countries had the right to take measures to try to protect their citizens. That same day, Trump's administration announced restrictions on travel from China.
US conservatives have increasingly criticised the WHO during the global pandemic, saying it relied on faulty data from China about the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Last week, Republican Senator Marco Rubio called for the resignation of Tedros, saying "he allowed Beijing to use the WHO to mislead the global community".

When the lungs were scans they showed something different, this was not an ordinary pneumonia and people were getting more and more infected and recovery was difficulty. But the Chinese authorities look the other way. DR AI FEN the director of Wuhan Central Hospital EMERGENCY UNIT decided to carry out test on the initial patients admitted.She published her findings in the China News Weekly..the test came back by the end of December and the results were that this was a SARs like virus and new disease rapidly spreading in Wuhan. Other Doctors were also reporting such a disease and one such Doctor was Dr Li Wunliang a ophthalmologist at the Wuhan central hospital. He warned his colleagues on the We Chat about a new disease inflicting people of Wuhan. Guess what happen, China's INTERNET POLICE read his We Chat and Dr Li was summoned by the police and he was accused of spreading lies and rumors and targeted by the Chinese police. Dr Li died in February while he continued to treat corona virus patients and Beijing continued to target him. By now it was well establish that there was a new disease in Wuhan and authorities had started collecting blood samples and researcher were carrying out test and Beijing was informed of the situation and they knew what was going on, and that is when a cover up began.On the 1st of January this year an employees of a GENOMICS company ( carrying out the test ) reported that the HUwei health authorities order them to destroy all samples n bury the proof that an outbreak had taken place. On 3rd January 2020 the China's health Commission ordered all publications to be removed and lab samples to be destroy . But eventually the disease got too big to hide and 6 days later china had to admit that there is a outbreak of corona virus and it has gone out of control in Wuhan. To sum it up - when the disease was detected china refuse to acknowledge it. When concerns were raised China tried to silence it. When proof was being given China destroyed it. Beijing knew about the virus but suppressed the facts and allowed the virus to spread. When countries tried to impose travel restrictions on Chinese citizens China Lashed out at them and said people were unnecessarily creating panic. When countries wanted to impose travel restrictions on Chinese citizens China called them racist. When the world demanded accountability China then said it was an American import. For weeks Chinese Diplomats are churning out propaganda and spinning conspiracy Theories.. The Wuhan corona Virus could have been stop but Beijing cover up and Unleashed a Pandemic on the world..
