Bersatu Youth executive council member Muzzammil Ismail has admitted that he penned a letter to Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to consider giving him a position in an agency or government-linked company (GLC).

Bersatu Youth executive council member Muzzammil Ismail has admitted that he penned a letter to Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to consider giving him a position in an agency or government-linked company (GLC).
Muzzammil stressed that there was nothing in the letter which implied he breached the law, was involved in corruption, or compromised his integrity.
He said this after the letter dated June 1 was circulated over the Internet. The letter showed it was stamped by the menteri besar's political secretary Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, with a signature and written note which read: "Based on the discussion with YAB MB, YAB MB is ready to consider this application."
Muzzammil (above) offered himself to be appointed as a member of the board of directors in any agency or GLC in Kedah such as Bina Darulaman Berhad, Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Kedah, Menteri Besar Kedah Incorporated (MBI Kedah), and Kedah State Development Corporation.
"I believe that the circulation of the letter linked to me is nothing but an attempt by certain quarters to tarnish my image.
"Moreover (it happened) when the party is about to have its election in the near future," he told Malaysiakini, adding that the parties who spread the letter had slandered him and had bad intentions to create prejudice against him.
Despite the leaked letter, Muzzammil said he is undeterred at serving the people.
"My main focus now is to help the government and the people through political service and my profession," he said.
After the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin (above), came into power, many of its leaders, notably MPs, were given numerous positions in GLCs.
This included Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as the head of Prasarana, Besut MP Idris Jusoh as the head of Felda, and Padang Terap MP Mahdzir Khalid as the chairperson of TNB.
The country also saw the departure of corporate leaders such as Petronas president and CEO Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariddin and PNB CEO Abdul Jalil Rasheed who were appointed under the previous Pakatan Harapan government.
