COVID-19 | Umno Youth deputy chief Shahril Hamdan has been infected with Covid-19 after campaigning in the Sabah election.
He is the second Umno leader to be infected with Covid-19 in Sabah after supreme council member Mohd Razlan Rafii.
"Covid-19 positive. No obvious symptoms other than fatigue.
"Decided to test yesterday in Kuala Lumpur for prudence after case spikes as I had been campaigning in Sabah.
"Just received a call and will be taken in today," Shahril said on Twitter.
He apologised for causing inconvenience to people who have come in contact with him.
Shahril is the second Covid-19 case from Sabah to be imported into Peninsular Malaysia after a spike of cases in the state since last month.
The Sabah election campaign began on Sept 12 and will run until midnight of Sept 26.
Yesterday, a UOB Bank in Kepong had to be closed for sanitisation after a staff tested positive for Covid-19.
The staff had visited Sabah from Sept 10 to 13.

Razlan, who was the first politician to be infected with Covid-19 while campaigning in Sabah, was reported positive for the disease on Sept 20.
At the time, Razlan said the Covid-19 positive result was from a rapid test kit (RTK) and he was getting a Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test, which is more accurate, for confirmation.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, when contacted, told Malaysiakini that Razlan was confirmed positive on his second test.
"He is now being quarantined at Kota Kinabalu Hospital. Everything else is proceeding as usual," Zahid said.
Razlan's infection also caused three election candidates from Umno and Warisan to be quarantined as they had come into contact with him.
They are Umno's Lumadan candidate Kamarlin Ombi and Sindumin candidate Sani Miasin as well as Warisan's Sindumin candidate Dr Yusof Yacob, who is also the incumbent state education and innovation minister.
