COVID-19 | University Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has ordered all students that have yet to return to campus to stay where they are following a Covid-19 case at the varsity.

The university said one of its students on its campus at Seri Iskandar, Perak tested positive for the coronavirus on Sept 26 after being isolated upon arrival.

"The student and those who returned to campus from high-risk areas (were) placed under isolation on campus with strictly limited movement upon their arrival there," the university said in a statement today.

UTP added that it has taken the initiative to conduct swab tests on all students returning from high-risk locations.

As a precaution, it said a Health Ministry team disinfected the campus yesterday.

"We would like to assure all staff, students and parents that the case is an isolated one which was immediately attended to upon identification.

"On this note, the Health Ministry has given consent for UTP to operate as usual.

"In further safeguarding the health and safety of the UTP community against the Covid-19 pandemic, all students who have yet to return to the UTP campus are required not to do so until further notice," it said.
