MACC nabs ex-ministry official over bribe in RM118m fertiliser contract
The MACC has detained a ministry's former principal assistant secretary on suspicion of accepting bribes for a fertiliser tender amounting to RM118 million.
Magistrate Syah Wira Abdul Halim has allowed for the suspect to be remanded for seven days starting today following an application at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court this morning.

The MACC has detained a ministry's former principal assistant secretary on suspicion of accepting bribes for a fertiliser tender amounting to RM118 million.
Magistrate Syah Wira Abdul Halim has allowed for the suspect to be remanded for seven days starting today following an application at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court this morning.
The 42-year-old suspect was arrested at about 11pm yesterday when he came to give a statement at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
The MACC said the man is suspected of being implicated in irregularities in the tender process for the fertiliser supply project and is believed to have received a bribe of about RM85,000 from the relevant supplier company.
The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009 which covers the soliciting/receiving of gratification (bribe).
News portal FMT reported a source as saying that the “RM118 million tender was awarded to three companies, but all three companies are owned by the same individual".
