Sabah-based Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) wants to expand to the peninsula, with plans to field Sabahan candidates there.
The party's secretary-general Guandee Kohoi said the decision to expand "activities" to Malaya was agreed on during a supreme council meeting chaired by party president Jeffrey Kitingan.
"We are also looking at a chance to contest seats in Malaya if there are requests from Sabahans who work and live there.
“I would like to take this opportunity to invite all Sabahans living in Malaya to join Star while non-Sabahans can join Star as allied members as well," Guandee said in a statement today.
The party has appointed Iskandar Malik as its Malaya chairperson.
Star has its roots in Sarawak, where the State Reform Party was formed in 1996.
The Sarawak party then expanded to Sabah in 2012. Four years later, Kitingan rebranded the Sabah chapter into the Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku but retained the Star acronym.
The Sarawak chapter, meanwhile, was renamed Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) in February last year.
Star's expansion out of Borneo mirrors similar plans by Warisan.
Star is currently a member of Bersatu-led Perikatan Nasional, which is currently struggling to form a consensus with Umno ahead of the next general election.
It is unclear what type of seats the Sabah-based party would be eyeing if they were to contest in the peninsula.
