The Health Ministry reported 2,451 new cases of Covid-19 today.
Selangor reported the most cases, while there was a surge of infections in Negeri Sembilan and Penang
Of the new cases, 327 or 13.3 percent are linked to police lockups, prisons or immigration depots clusters.

- Patients in ICU: 177 ↑ (7 more than the previous day, new record)
- Intubated patients: 82 (unchanged from the previous day)
- Deaths: 5
According to the Health Ministry, almost 76 percent of today's new patients are locals.
The ministry did not hold a press conference today. Its press conferences are typically, but not always, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The RT-PCR capacity and test numbers were unavailable today.

Details of the five deceased are as follows:
Selangor
'Patient 129,919': Malaysian male, 87, died at the Sungai Buloh Hospital. Had a history of hypertension, heart and chronic kidney diseases.
Putrajaya
'Patient 115,075': Malaysian male, 60, died at the Sungai Buloh Hospital. Had a history of diabetes, hypertension and a stroke.
Johor
'Patient 130,516': Malaysian male, 82, died at the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Kluang. Had a history of chronic obstructive airway disease.
'Patient 130,517': Malaysian male, 67, died at the Sultan Ismail Hospital, Johor Bahru. Had a history of diabetes, hypertension, lymphoma, asthma, stroke, psoriasis and gastroesophageal reflux disease
'Patient 130,518': Malaysian male, 62, died at the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Kluang. Had a history of diabetes, hypertension, heart and chronic kidney diseases.
Clusters
The Health Ministry, meanwhile, identified five new clusters today.
The Mikro workplace cluster in Johor Bahru, Kulai, Pontian, and Kota Tinggi in Johor has 97 cases to date. The cases were first tested positive during targeted screening at a factory on Dec 21.
The Symphony Magazine cluster in Timur Lau, and Seberang Perai Utara, Penang has 44 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Jan 1.
The Pasai cluster in Sibu and Mukah, Sarawak has 38 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Jan 7 during screening for interstate travel.
The Teknologi Kesidang workplace cluster in Malacca (Melaka Tengah) has 18 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Dec 28.
The Palut cluster in Dungun, Terengganu has 10 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Jan 2.
