Covid-19 (Jan 30): New record of 5,728 cases, more than 3,200 in S'gor

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported a record high of 5,728 new cases of Covid-19, three more than yesterday.

Selangor reported the most cases today (3,285) followed by Johor (792) and Kuala Lumpur (480).

According to the Selangor Health Department, the Petaling district had 1,654 cases - including 773 in the Damansara sub-district and 506 in the Petaling sub-district.

Of the Selangor cases, 1,500 were from close contact tracing and 816 from other types of screening.

There were also 13 deaths, and a new record for patients in ICUs.

  • Patients in ICU: 319 ↑ (18 more than the previous day, new record)

  • Intubated patients: 120 ↑ (5 more than the previous day)

Based on their patient numbers, seven of the 13 deceased today were among the new cases reported yesterday.

One of the deceased today was a foreigner (Patient 195,963).

Two clusters reported cases in the triple digits, namely Tanjung Suria (567) and Penjara Jalan Harapan (103).
