Education Minister Mohd Radzi Md Jidin today announced that schools would be reopened in stages starting March.

Pre-schoolers, Primary 1 and Primary 2 students will be back in school on March 1, while those in primaries 3 to 6 will resume schooling on March 8.

Meanwhile, secondary schools will reopen starting on April 5.

Radzi said younger students are going back to classes earlier so they can learn about standard operating procedures (SOP) while in school.

Secondary schools, students in Johor, Kelantan, and Terengganu belonging to Group A will resume physical classes on April 4, while other states in Group B will resume classes on April 5.

"The secondary school students will return to school after the semester holiday ends," he said.

He noted that the challenge in adhering to the SOP comes after the schooling session ends.

"Usually, parents will wait outside the school without observing the social distance measures as well as when the students disperse," he said.

Hence, Radzi pleaded to parents to ensure that they follow the SOP.
