Umno had to work with 'dwarf' party to keep DAP out of govt - Ahmad Jazlan

Kita Orangbiasa: Kelantan Umno chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, why are you so very anti-DAP? DAP is a lawful registered political party.

The people who voted for DAP are lawful Malaysian citizens and the majority of them are taxpayers. What did DAP do wrong that you are so unhappy about?

What about the Perak DAP’s support for Umno that brought the menteri besar down and the state assemblyperson from Umno was made the new menteri besar? How ungrateful can you be?

Iammi: If DAP is what it takes to put fear in Umno leaders from being involved in 1MDB, SRC and other scandals, then so be it.

Fear in God appears not to work for these people. We, the rakyat, will continue to back DAP. Even Malays like me will turn our back to Umno.

IndigoKite6964: @Iammi, if you fear an adversary, it is only because he/she is a worthy opponent. If Umno fears DAP that much, then in the same breath, they concede the possibility that DAP is capable of ruling.

Frankly, I see only political parties that represent the entire scope of Malaysians will survive, and they are the appropriate parties to rule Malaysia.

The Chinese have abandoned MCA because they realise that being part of a coalition with all the races represented only to be dominated by one race isn’t going to be good for the country.

Is the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition a representation of Malaysian unity? Not even close. If anything, it represents Malaysia disunited.

Let's make Umno experience their fears. Let’s kick out all race and religion-based parties. Let bangsa Malaysia rule Malaysia. One thing for sure, if that happens, foreign direct investment (FDI) will come pouring in.

PW Cheng: Umno hates DAP not because it is anti-Malay but because DAP is efficient in checking Umno on its shenanigans and its massive corruption.

I am not a fan of DAP but if there is anything to dislike DAP, it is the show of arrogance by some of its leaders.

In terms of good governance and management, they are worlds apart and that’s why Umno cannot accept this and as usual, can only make use of race and religion to defend themselves.

Vladivostokian: The Umno president, embroiled in money laundering and other financial offences, is probably bitter that the top leaders of Umno aren’t appointed to cabinet posts.

For example, the president and deputy president are not in Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s cabinet, while lower-ranking party leaders are.

Muhyiddin has his own reasons for not including Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his cabinet - he didn’t want leaders with pending court cases to taint his ‘clean-looking’ cabinet.

Umno is a tainted party. Many of its leaders have pending court cases. It appears that Umno members have no qualms about their leaders being involved in shady activities, for example, money laundering and bribery.

Milshah: We have gone this road before - DAP blames Umno, Umno blames DAP. For 60 years, we were like this. Nothing new here. Pakatan Harapan was the way out of this trap. But it was punched into submission.

All this I said while Harapan was still the government. Now, here we are, back to square one until infinity. Stay if you can. Don’t stay, if you can’t. It’s going to be a very long ride.

The Wakandan: In the end, as we can all see, it is all about money. If you are government, you control the purse string.

Depending on how honest you are stewarding the country's assets, you nevertheless make the decision. The decision can only be to your advantage. You decide what that advantage would be.

Have we ever wondered why the Malaysian path to being millionaires or billionaires is through politics?

How about race and religion, you may ask. That was taken care of long ago. They are being kept alive now so that the government can rule in perpetuity.

Do we honestly think that race and religion is in jeopardy? That's the most ridiculous assumption because who else are in the government who nearly having total power?

To Umno, DAP is always the spoilers. This is because only DAP can police them from dipping their hands into the cookie jar. Once DAP is out of the way, nobody will be watching.

The rest are standing in line, ready to catch any crumps being thrown. They don't mind that the bulk is in the hand of big brother as long as they have the bone.

Libra: Ahmad Jazlan, the measure of reality, my friend, is you forgot the origin of Umno and the PN coalition.

You had a common enemy - the enemy being non-Muslims and DAP.

Now you are confused - which way to go? You take in PAS. Can they do what you cannot do? Actually, they are redundant - you can do what they can.

Then you are undecided - to work with Bersatu or not? The culture of the good life and no work is being challenged - too many going for it, so what to do?

The only safe journey is to have more honourable men and women to rule. Find them if you can. Otherwise, you have to live with the filth.

JayWai: Having DAP in the government, even if it was only for a short 22 months, gave me a glimpse of what good governance is and it raised my hopes that Malaysia will finally soar once again.

We have been governed for more than 60 years by people who filled their own pockets, milking even Tabung Haji and Felda for their own gains. And yet they dare come out and vilify DAP.

Lest we forget that what we do in secret, the Almighty knows and sees. This is the hope I hold on to now, that I will see justice... one day.
