Another 'discreet' Umno MPs meet, with Zahid invited this time
Umno’s top brass met with the party's MPs in Kuala Lumpur tonight amidst speculation that the party will withdraw support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin soon.
According to sources privy to the meeting, it took place at Wisma Perwira (above), a property owned by the military.
Journalists had camped outside the premises since 8pm.
The meeting lasted almost four hours. Vehicles were seen starting to leave the premises at midnight...

The meeting lasted almost four hours. Vehicles were seen leaving the premises at midnight.
The location for the meeting between Umno’s leadership and the MPs is highly unusual. The party’s headquarters - which saw heavy media presence this evening - is just a 10-minute drive away.
This is the second known discreet meeting involving a large number of Umno MPs since Saturday at a mansion in Jalan Bellamy.

What’s different this time, according to sources, is party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was invited.
Zahid had been speculated to be planning Umno's exit from the PN government.
Earlier in the day, Zahid was spotted at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur where he had also met with some Umno supreme council leaders as well as ex-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
While he has reportedly secured majority support from the Umno supreme council leaders, the Bagan Datuk MP is facing strong resistance from Umno MPs.
This gathering comes amidst the expiry of a deadline today, set by Umno’s supreme council - the party's executive body - for Muhyiddin to convene Parliament.
The ultimatum was seen as a means to give justification for Umno to quit the government.
However, Putrajaya this afternoon announced that Parliament will be convened on July 26.
Putrajaya has pledged to brief MPs on the National Recovery Plan and amend the necessary laws to conduct future Parliamentary sittings in a “hybrid” manner.
Putrajaya also pledged to ensure the proclamation of emergency and emergency ordinances will be “laid before” both houses of Parliament to fulfil Article 150(3) of the Federal Constitution.
It is unknown if Putrajaya aims to have the proclamation and ordinances debated and voted on, as specifically decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on June 29.
