Ku Nan lambasts Pua over 'kleptocrats' to be set free claim
Umno treasurer Tengku Adnan Mansor today hit out at DAP's Tony Pua, over the latter's accusation that Umno leaders facing court cases might be set free if the party gets the prime minister post.

Umno treasurer Tengku Adnan Mansor today hit out at DAP's Tony Pua, over the latter's accusation that Umno leaders facing court cases might be set free if the party gets the prime minister post.
The Putrajaya MP told Pua to look at his own party first before speaking and pointed to several court cases against DAP leaders which were withdrawn when Pakatan Harapan was in power.
"This claim that all Umno leaders are kleptocrats is a heavy and unfair allegation. He questioned if an Umno leader became the prime minister, would all kleptocrats be set free or return to power.
"Actually that question ought to be asked to his friends in Harapan," Adnan (above) said in a statement.
He cited the case of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
"Look at his ally Lim, who was charged in court, but after they (Harapan) formed a government in May 2018, the High Court acquitted the former Penang chief minister from his corruption cases involving the purchase of a land plot and bungalow.
"This happened when the trial had started in March the same year, and 25 witnesses had been called to testify," Adnan added.
The Umno leader also mentioned several other court cases involving Harapan members, including Warisan president Shafie Apdal, to drive his point against Pua.
Pua in a Facebook post on Wednesday pondered aloud on what might happen if Umno were to lead the country again, suggesting that the party's 'kleptocrats' would be set free and even possibly regain power.
The Damansara MP also threw in a suggestion that an alternative to stopping Umno from returning to power was to "tolerate" Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's Perikatan Nasional (PN) government until the next general election.
Adnan also claimed that Umno leaders like him were only charged because they "refused to support" the former Harapan government, but did not substantiate his allegation.
"Maybe this is why when Harapan was in power, Umno leaders who refused to give them support were charged in court like what happened to me.
"No worries Umno people, we continue to hold firm to the Federal Constitution and rule of law,” he added.
The former federal territories minister is among the Umno leaders who were hauled to court to face criminal charges after the fall of BN in 2018.
In December last year, the High Court in Kuala Lumpur found the Putrajaya MP guilty in a RM2 million graft case and meted out a 12-month jail sentence and RM2 million fine.
However, the Court of Appeal last month overturned the conviction.
