Kampung Berembang in Ampang was a sight of mayhem on Monday when demolition squad from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) - aided by Rela and the Federal Reserve Unit - moved in to demolish the 30-year-old village.
What ensued was an open clash between residents and the authorities, resulting in the arrest of 23 people consisting of residents and social activists.
Now, with all 60 house torn down, the 470 residents are left with no place to go.
Malaysiakini.tv visited the village and found most of them living in sheds built from their demolished homes.
Our video crew spoke to one resident who was upset with MPAJ, her member of parliament and the government for letting the residents down.
