Noting that many Paloh constituents are in the palm oil industry, Lee said Harapan's alleged poor handling of a foreign boycott led to low prices.
"Harapan failed to obtain foreign cooperation for palm oil exports. Therefore, the income (of Paloh constituents) dropped.
"After Harapan was ousted from power, prices went up. This was because the foreign minister at the time - Hishammuddin Hussein - had managed to convince other countries to import palm oil," he said in an interview with Utusan Malaysia.
Lee, 32, is a lawyer and is making his electoral debut against incumbent Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Harapan-DAP).
During the 2018 elections, Sheikh Umar wrested the seat from BN for the first time with a thin majority of only 783 votes. Prior to this, BN held the seat for seven terms.
Lee believed that BN stood a good chance of winning back the seat because voters were supportive of incumbent menteri besar Hasni Mohammad.
"Malaysia has suffered after Harapan took over in 2018. Although BN was eventually put back in power, the majority in the state assembly was too small.
"Therefore, we need a big mandate in order for Johor to become a prime destination for investors, as it was before the last election," he said.
Lee said his primary focus was jobs and housing for the Paloh constituency.
