Covid-19 (May 31): 1,451 new cases, 7 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,451 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 23,152, down 22.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (665)
Kuala Lumpur (287)
Penang (84)
Perak (73)
Negeri Sembilan (72)
Kedah (45)
Sarawak (44)
Malacca (43)
Sabah (36)
Johor (29)
Putrajaya (22)
Terengganu (18)
Kelantan (15)
Pahang (13)
Perlis (4)
Labuan (1)

Another seven deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which three were declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were in Kedah (2), Selangor (2), Johor (1), Terengganu (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,676 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

This year, Covid-19 related deaths peaked in March (2,235 deaths) before tapering down in April (564) and May (129).

There are 945 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 28 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (117) followed by Johor (103) and Sabah (85).
