Perak PAS has invited Tajuddin Abdul Rahman to defend his Pasir Salak parliamentary seat during the 15th general election under a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket following his removal from the Umno Supreme Council.
State PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria hinted that this could be a possibility if Tajuddin (above) was dropped as a BN election candidate.
He added that it also depended on whether PAS would be allocated the Pasir Salak seat in the PN coalition.
“If GE15 happens and Tajuddin is not given a place in BN, then Perak PAS is ready to offer him to contest on PN’s ticket representing PAS.
“(That is) if the Pasir Salak seat belongs to PAS in the allocation of seats together with PN,” Razman was quoted as saying by Harakah Daily.
Tajuddin, who is Pasir Salak Umno division chief, was removed as a member of the Umno Supreme Council on Tuesday.
He was informed of the decision in a letter dated June 21, penned by Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi did not disclose the reason for Tajuddin’s removal, claiming that the latter knew what he did wrong.
This is the second time Tajuddin was removed from the supreme council.
In 1995, Tajuddin was a supreme council member but his party membership was revoked following allegations he had paid RM6 million to secure his position as an Umno division chief.
His membership was reinstated three years later.
