A network of Orang Asli villages in Kelantan has slammed Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah for alleged inaction on key issues in his 30 years of service.

Jaringan Kampung Orang Asli Kelantan (JKOAK) said they became aware of this when the group was invited to Cameron Highlands to meet its MP Ramli Mohd Nor - who had implemented a road works project spanning over 30km.

"This is an extraordinary feat when compared to us in Gua Musang where Ku Li (Tengku Razaleigh) has served for more than 30 years, yet the Kuala Betis collection plan failed to repair village roads in the surrounding areas.

"Tengku Razaleigh (above) is seen to have failed, even though he led for more than 30 years since Semangat 46. The Orang Asli should realise this situation and not be deceived the next time," the group said in a statement.

JKOAK promised its support towards new-faced candidates in any competing party other than Tengku Razaleigh's Umno, labelling the stalwart as being “no longer relevant”.

"Umno is seen as failing when many key issues cannot be fully resolved such as village roads connecting the route to Pos Pasik, Pos Gob, Pos Simpor, Pos Bihai and Pos Balar.

"They often face difficult roads every time and it seems like there is no leader in Gua Musang," it added.

Hope in Harapan

JKOAK expressed hope that Pakatan Harapan candidates will be more aware and concerned with the plight of the Orang Asli, especially the issue of rural road links.

The network of villages which reportedly met today decided to throw its support behind candidates that it believes will uphold the voice of the rakyat and the Orang Asli community.

This includes independent Batu hopeful Siti Kasim and the Cameron Highlands MP Ramli.

"For Gua Musang, JKOAK believes that all candidates do not have the potential to look after the welfare of the Orang Asli and because of that, we will not focus on Gua Musang," it said as it urged the Orang Asli to vote for Harapan.
