A viral message stating that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong decreed Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim is to be appointed prime minister is false.
The message is circulating on WhatsApp with a link to Astro Awani but the broadcaster has denied publishing this claim.
"The viral message is an irresponsible act which has nothing to do with the survey conducted by Astro Awani through undi.astroawani.com, for the 15th general election," the broadcaster said.
The message went viral after results showed no single coalition had garnered enough seats in the 15th general election to form the government.
As of 2.30pm on Nov 20, negotiations are still underway among political parties to form a coalition government.
Astro Awani and Malaysiakini are among the members of a fact-checking alliance, JomCheck, made up of media houses, academia, and civil society.
