PM returns to Tambun tomorrow, Perak govt to host 'kenduri rakyat'

The Perak State Secretariat will be hosting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at a "kenduri rakyat" in Ipoh tomorrow.

The event will take place at 1.45pm at the Masjid Muhammad Al-Fateh mosque in Taman Jati, Ipoh - within the Tambun constituency, which Anwar represents.

According to a press invitation sent out by the Perak Information Department, Anwar will be performing Friday prayers at the mosque.

Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad is also scheduled to be at the event.

This will mark Anwar's first appearance in Tambun after the Nov 19 general election.

This will also be the second time in which Anwar will be holding a prayer event, followed by a feast that was held on Nov 26 at Taman Rakan in Kajang, Selangor.

That event saw hundreds of well-wishers fit into a small mosque, with many non-Muslim supporters looking on from outside.

Before the state government-do at the mosque, there are more events lined up for Anwar’s high-profile visit to Ipoh tomorrow.

Upon arrival, the prime minister will be granted an audience with Perak Ruler, Sultan Nazrin Shah, at Istana Kinta at 10am.

It will be followed by a walkabout and meet-and-greet session at Tanjung Rambutan Market at 11.30am and at 12.30pm, a site visit to Manjoi Health Clinic.

Anwar wrested the Tambun seat from Perikatan Nasional's Ahmad Faizal Azumu in the Nov 19 election.
