Zahid's daughter now chairs listed firm, share price jumps
MQ Tech was trading at around RM0.05 for most of the past week until Friday afternoon - when the cabinet appointments were announced, which saw its share price briefly rise to RM0.06.
When markets reopened yesterday (Monday, Dec 5), MQ Tech's share price reached a high of RM0.075.
Share price in an industrial mould manufacturer, MQ Tech soared by 50 percent following the appointment of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as deputy prime minister.
MQ Tech was trading at around RM0.05 for most of the past week until Friday afternoon - when the cabinet appointments were announced, which saw its share price briefly rise to RM0.06.
When markets reopened yesterday (Monday, Dec 5), MQ Tech's share price reached a high of RM0.075.
The same day, MQ Tech announced to Bursa Malaysia that Nurulhidayah (above), Zahid's daughter, was appointed as group chairperson, swapping her role with Lim Char Boo, who will now be the group's vice chairperson.
According to MQ Tech's website, its subsidiaries are involved in high-precision mould making and magnetic coils for hard disk drives.
Nurulhidayah, 43, joined MQ Tech's board in June 2. She is also the executive director at a real estate firm, Menara Rezeki Sdn Bhd and founder of the fashion company, Couverture.
According to The Edge, Nurulhidayah's husband Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff was also involved in a boardroom reshuffle at Jiankun International Bhd yesterday.
Saiful Nizam was re-designated as company president, just two months after being made company executive deputy chairperson.
Jiankun and Menara Rezeki have a working relationship with each other.
