Arau MP Shahidan Kassim today insisted that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim should personally respond to his equal allocation demand for all opposition MPs, claiming that it was a part of Pakatan Harapan's election manifesto.

Taking to Facebook, Shahidan (above) replied to Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan who yesterday dismissed his initial comments that the government was being "unfair" to deny opposition MPs equal allocation.

"I don't need an explanation from the Hulu Langat MP. This is because I don't think his explanation is credible.

"I just need an explanation from the prime minister," said Shahidan, a former Perlis BN chief who was dropped as the coalition's GE15 candidate but later defended his Arau seat on a Perikatan Nasional ticket.

Under the Dr Mahathir Mohamad administration, government MPs in Peninsular Malaysia were allocated RM3 million in 2020, while their East Malaysia counterparts could access RM3.5 million.

The present administration has yet to reveal what sort of funding will be made available for the 148 MPs on the government bench.

Sany yesterday pointed out the government has yet to decide on equal allocation for opposition MPs and accused Shahidan of "fishing" for funds under Budget 2023 to be retabled in Parliament soon.

"Here's to taking care of your health and getting well soon Hulu Langat," said Shahidan in an apparent swipe at Sany who attended Parliament for the first time on last Dec 19 in a wheelchair as he was recovering from an operation.

Sany, however, still engaged in multiple shouting matches with Shahidan who triggered the incidents and earned a stern rebuke from Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul.
