On BN wins with bigger majority
JF: I surf the Net and read the papers, and I saw only double talks from politicians and they are all out to justify their actions. They are not sincere at all. There are glaring injustices across the country. There are imbalances in the distributions of privileges and wealth and racial discrimination.
The electors are to be blame. You reap what you sow!
Meng: You call FRU men clad in full armour visiting opposition rallies as 'free to campaign'? You call police intimidation claiming no permit for ceramah as 'free to campaign'? You call the use of government agencies like police, DBKL and Public Works Department during elections as freedom and democracy?
Not forgetting, the MIC's effort to close off certain Indian communities to the opposition and the physical attacks on bloggers, reporters and even the opposition candidate? Your idea of freedom is like a bird in the cage.
The fact that we've had one party in the last 50 years is proof enough that democracy is not well in Malaysia.
Dhammika: Congratulation to BN. Victory was expected the moment FRU and the police barricaded opposition ceramah venues to the extent of denying Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang from speaking. This has intimidated the people by planting fear into them. Besides the BN 'samseng' had their way to disrupt opposition gathering.
The victory was not honourable. I look forward to ACA bringing charges against those indulging in corrupt practices in the by-election.
YSM: The Barisan Nasional won in Ijok and all the worry was really for nothing. In sending the big wigs to Ijok, even the prime minister himself, was really not necessary as the Ijokians did not only vote for the ruling coalition, they were all eager to do so and came out in big numbers.
The ruling coalition should now know that the opposition is really no threat and calling out the FRU to intimidate and frighten those who came to hear their ceramah was unnecessary. The police's excuse that the opposition had no permits for their ceramah was also really unnecessary. The EC's closing one eye to election irregularities and the bus loads of phantom voters is really also not necessary.
In fact, Anwar Ibrahim and PKR are really no threat at all to BN as can be seen by the huge majority in Ijok and the eagerness and commitment of the Ijok people to vote for the ruling coalition. BN should consider Anwar and PKR irrelevant and not bother about them come the general elections.
Do not waste money and use government machinery and agencies to curb PKR activities. The BN will win anyway as the people are still with them. Even the PM said so.
Thai Eng Lang: Who was it who said that "politics is like the second oldest profession and politicians are much like those who practise the oldest profession".
Now I understand that many voters are not much different. It is clear that there are many voters out there who are behaving/practising so very much like those in the oldest profession, so much so that politics can be considered the third oldest profession.
Back to my cave of solace.
On Send signal to the 'rotten' government
Kamarudin Mohammad: Mahathir is very shrewd. He is very conscious that BN will win in Ijok. However, he is using reverse psychology to undermine BN from getting more votes. He is actually wanting a reduced majority just to embarrass Pak Lah and dent his feel-good attitude.
