BN buying over PKR members?

Looking at the past history of BN, they are very much capable of this. Looks like after buying over Ijok folks and the civil servants, BN is now on a spree to buy over opposition members.

On 'Betrayed' by Anwar: Nalla to quit PKR

GiLarider: I wonder what is happening to PKR members. First it was the reported unhappiness among Angkatan Muda Keadilan members. Then it was reported only 15 Indian members pledged support to Anwar. Now Nalla wants to quit because of being backstabbed by Anwar?

Did Anwar really made a wrong move or are the PKR members being bought over by Barisan Nasional? Looking at the past history of BN, they are very much capable of the latter. Looks like after buying over Ijok folk and the civil servants, BN is now on a spree to buy over opposition members.

This is such a sad situation, especially when we can sense there are some real chances for the opposition this time around. Hope Anwar and other opposition leaders could do something before things get out of hand.

On Gov't defends pay hike as budget deficit rises

KSN: The salary revision is long overdue regardless of the reason given now. It is to be hoped that performance and efficiency will increase and corruption will be checked. The pensioners will also benefit from the increase but it must be remembered that pension is calculated on the last drawn basic salary only. Other allowances given to serving officers are not given to pensioners and the allowances do not attract pension either.

One very important matter not mentioned in the media reports is whether the years of service will be taken into the calculation of pension ie, whether anything beyond 25 years is not counted. This will benefit those in the lower ranks as they are the ones most affected by the rise in the cost of living.

Currently, there are some drawing a pension for only 25 years of service when in actual fact they have served beyond 30 years.

The PM should urgently look into this serious anomaly to correct it with the current revision.

On Samy joins ranks of sexist politicians

Sadirah K: At the end of the day such comments reflect the state of mind and character of an individual. It is under stress that this is best seen. The two BN representatives claimed that their statements were in response to an opposition MP's comments.

They were just 'supporting' the government. However, it only reflects poorly on them. Now we have a veteran MP who is known for such comments. A detailed study of his family life and that of his children will highlight the 'high' moral standards that reflect his comments.

Even JKR workers have a greater sense of moderation in their statements regarding the other sex. We tolerate the intolerable and such people continue to give this sort of leadership. Shame on the Indian Malaysians.

It is time that this man moves on so that we can get a fairer agenda and greater respect for the Indians.

On Reject 'fake' apologies suspend BN MPs

Concerned Non-Economist: More than a year ago, a certain deputy minister made a statement in parliament that went against party discipline. And he was accordingly suspended by the prime minister from his post without pay for three months.

Since then, there are these two MPs who have been making all kinds of remarks on racial, gender and other issues and shooting from the hip from time to time. The speaker is powerless because he dose not know under which standing orders they should be charged. So they go free only to shoot from the hip again.

On 'Glorious days' of Kampung Baru old timers

Ferre 1262: I would like to say: Why do we still talk about the past? The past is already past, now we must think about future and get a better future. I do not know why Malaysians like to talk about the past. We can see that Japan, America and Europe don't want to talk about past history.

Who is wrong or who is right does not bring any meaning. The dead are already dead; they would not come to life again. The important thing is to not repeat the past. Let's bring Malaysia to the future. Don't talk about the past.

On Talk of violence only for losers

TWH2377: I truly agree with what he/she has written. A very well-written and rational piece of work. If only the general sentiments and in particular, the politicians and our leadership has such enlightened views, Malaysia has hope for the future.

I sincerely pray that people in the public sector (the leadership in particularly) will be mindful that they are elected and paid by the people through our taxes and that they are responsible and accountable for their doings.

On Proper divide between BBC British gov't

Anonymous: It is interesting to read the arguments between Jonathan Kent, a BBC journalist and Mark. You can say what you like about the decaying quality of the UK's public services (eg the National Health Service), but its news and information services are almost second to none.

Biased it may be, the BBC news website is updated every hour, every day, with information spanning the entire world, from the latest electronic gadgets in Seoul, to the conflicts in the Middle East. BBC journalists can be found in the most inhospitable environments on this planet (politically!)

You may call it hegemony on a global scale, but has anyone tried to access the RTM website? The last time I did, it replied 'Server not found'. Please wake me up when it's up and running again. So, Keep up the good work BBC.
