PDC to address questions on Batu Kawan land sale next week - Chow

The Penang Development Corporation (PDC) board of directors will address all questions arising from the Batu Kawan Industrial Estate 2 (BKIP2) land sale next week, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also PDC chairperson, said the corporation had explained the collaborative project undertaken with Umech Construction Sdn Bhd in a meeting with the state executive council this morning.

“The state executive council has noted PDC's explanations on the project and will leave it to the PDC board members to take the next course of action when they meet next week,” he told a press conference today.

Chow said the PDC and the state government always try to ensure the availability of industrial land in the state to meet the demand of investors by developing new industrial areas.

He added that a delay in the BKIP2 project will have a significant financial impact on the state government.

Recently, the PDC selected Umech as its collaborative partner to develop a 559ha site in Byram near the Pulau Burung landfill in the BKIP2 area.
