Govt to revive five stalled LRT3 stations on Bandar Utama-Klang line

BUDGET 2024 | The government has agreed to resume the proposed construction of five LRT3 stations that were previously cancelled.

The stations on the LRT3 line running from Bandar Utama to Klang are the Tropicana, Raja Muda, Temasya, Bukit Raja and Bandar Botanik stations.

“The maintenance of these stations is expected to complement and improve the public transport network in the Klang Valley and will benefit two million residents at a cost of RM4.7 billion,” said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim when tabling Budget 2024.

Yesterday, RHB Research reported that at the end of the third quarter of 2023, line-wide progress of the LRT3 construction stood at 86.5 percent.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke also previously announced that the line is expected to commence operations on March 1, 2025.

It is not immediately clear how the resumption of work on the five stations will affect the estimated completion date.

Once completed, the line will form part of the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System that links two commuter rail lines, six rapid transit lines, one bus rapid transit line and two airport rail links.

Anwar also announced that the proposed Penang to Seberang Perai LRT, as planned by the Penang Government, would cost RM10 billion under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
