I did not sign any declaration, says GRS lawmaker

Papar MP Armizan Mohd Ali has denied signing any statutory declaration (SD) to topple Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's administration.

The domestic trade and cost of living minister said he has never been approached by any party on that matter.

“I did not sign any SD and no one has approached me to sign any SD,” the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) lawmaker told a press conference after attending a diesel subsidy event in Port Klang, Selangor today.

He was responding to claims that GRS supports attempts by Perikatan Nasional and several government backbenchers to unseat Anwar via the Dubai Move.

Earlier, blogger-in-exile Raja Petra Kamarudin claimed that the opposition has managed to gain around 120 statutory declarations to topple Anwar's administration.

However, a review of the allegations by Raja Petra and the documents he held aloft - found that some claims don't hold up.

According to Raja Petra's third piece of paper, the SD supporters include 14 from BN - 11 from Umno, two from MCA, and one from MIC.

The purported list also claimed that Muda, GPS, PBM, GRS, Warisan, and three other Sabah MPs would also be supporting a PN-led government.

Further, the list claimed that three of the five Bersatu MPs who declared support for Anwar had U-turned, giving the opposition a total of 123 MPs.

Elaborating, Armizan urged the opposition to cease playing up such sentiments as it could cripple the country's journey toward development.

"I've said enough. There's no need to discuss this matter anymore. We should use the time available to reach the agendas set.

"As a leader from Sabah, I can see that the unity government is highly committed to addressing legacy issues, both on national and state levels.

"So let's move forward and let the government serve its full term, for the rakyat's benefit," he added.

Multiple police reports have been lodged against the alleged plot to unseat the Anwar government.

‘No storms in Sabah’

On another matter, Armizan maintained that all is still well in Sabah, amid talks of political tension in the state.

"Sabah is calm, no 'storms there'. Maybe there are 'storms' in certain parties, just maybe," headed.

It was earlier reported that BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will visit Sabah to resolve the political tension brewing there.

Following his visit, the Umno president said that BN will only decide on its allies for the 17th Sabah state election after the dissolution of the state assembly.
