Two cops nabbed for alleged rape, extortion involving college students

The Selangor police arrested two police officers after the duo was suspected of allegedly raping a foreign female college student and extorting money from a male college student.

In a statement today, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said both suspects were arrested yesterday and remanded for a week.

Hussein said the incident happened on Tuesday (Jan 9) at about 10pm, when two uniformed police officers detained the victims at Bukit Ampang over traffic offences.

“The suspects then took the victims to separate locations.

“One of the suspects had allegedly raped the female victim, while the male victim was taken to a bank to settle payments demanded by the suspects for the traffic offences,” he added.

China Press reported that the female victim is 17 years old.

Elaborating on the case, Hussein said that one of the police officers is being investigated for rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 20 years’ jail and whipping.

The other suspect is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine or whipping.

“Investigations are ongoing and those who have information about this incident are urged to contact their nearest police station or the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at 03-42897222 to assist.

“The police will not compromise with any officer or personnel who is involved in any criminal cases or misconduct.

“The investigations will be carried out transparently,” Hussein added.
