In the video, the artificial intelligence (AI)-generated Zeti claimed to have worked in the financial sector for over 40 years, shaping Malaysia’s monetary policies and witnessing significant economic changes, and she is now focused on sharing financial and investment knowledge post-retirement.
The video invites viewers to join an online community to “learn and grow together,” offering stock tips and economic insights to “help” users understand how Malaysian policies and market changes impact investments.
Be cautious, verify first
Teo reminded the public to stay vigilant when encountering such offers.
“Always verify thoroughly, remain sceptical, and avoid becoming a victim of such schemes.
“Remember, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Be cautious of any investment plan claiming ‘guaranteed profits’ to avoid being scammed,” she said.
The deputy minister also criticised Meta for allowing AI to generate misleading videos in pursuit of advertising revenue, accusing the platform of indirectly aiding scammers preying on the people’s hard-earned money.
