Summary
Police conduct a two-hour interview with Teoh Beng Hock Association chairperson Ng Yap Hwa in the renewed investigation, focusing on past reports and his views. Ng stated that Teoh’s death was politically motivated.
Ng urges police to conduct an independent probe and suggested bringing in international experts to assist with the case.
Police will use 3D crime scene reconstruction technology to digitally recreate the location where Teoh was found, with hopes of gaining new insights into the 16-year-old case.
The police questioned Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement chairperson Ng Yap Hwa for over two hours as part of the renewed investigation into Teoh’s death.
Speaking to the media at a press conference afterwards, Ng said officers asked whether previous police reports lodged by the association remained accurate.
“The investigating officer also asked if I had anything to add, so I presented the related documents,” he said at the Selangor contingent police headquarters.
Among the documents Ng (above) showed to the media was the written judgment by judge Hamid Sultan Abu Backer about the case.
He added that police sought his views on the case, to which he responded that Teoh’s death was politically motivated.
In 2009, Teoh, an aide to then-Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead after overnight questioning by the MACC in Shah Alam.

A 2011 Royal Commission ruled he was driven to suicide due to aggressive interrogation. However, in 2014, the Court of Appeal ruled his death was caused or accelerated by unlawful acts, including those of MACC officers.
Elaborating, Ng urged police to conduct the renewed investigation professionally and independently.
“We also requested that police consider inviting international criminal experts to assist with the case,” he added.
On Wednesday, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Shuhaily Mohd Zain said police would use 3D crime scene reconstruction technology to aid the investigation.
He said the technology could digitally recreate a clearer picture of the location where Teoh was found dead.
Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong, who was also present at the press conference with Ng, acknowledged the challenge of investigating a case that happened 16 years ago but expressed hope that new technology would help provide more clarity.
“Based on the findings, if the police determine any party is responsible, we hope appropriate action will be taken,” he said.
