A Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) student group berated MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki over remarks that two individuals would be charged soon over the corruption scandal in the state.

“After conducting a forensic audit for so long, why charge only two?

“By right, everyone implicated should be dragged to court,” said Suara Mahasiswa UMS in a statement today.

Earlier today, Azam said at least two individuals will be charged soon in connection with the ongoing Sabah corruption scandal.

“I will announce in a very short time the charging of the individuals in the case,” he added.

Azam also hinted at the possibility of further prosecution against other individuals.

On that note, Suara Mahasiswa UMS said anyone charged in court should be suspended from their jobs pending the outcome of their trials.

“And we will stress this demand in our upcoming rally in Kota Kinabalu, scheduled between June 21 and 22,” they added.

On June 6, Azam confirmed that MACC had completed its investigation paper on a video implicating a Sabah state assemblyperson.

The paper was submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for review two weeks earlier.

On April 29, Azam said forensic analysis was being finalised on 10 video clips submitted to the commission on March 11.
