2 ministers axed; Johari helms Miti, FT for Yeoh, Ramanan gets HR

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has unveiled his latest cabinet line-up.

The major shake-up saw two ministers dropped - PKR’s Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Senator Na’im Mokhtar.

Zaliha, who is the Sekijang MP, has been the Federal Territories minister since December 2023. Prior to that, she had helmed the Health Ministry.

Na’im, who was just sworn in as senator for a second term, held the religious affairs portfolio.

One deputy minister was also axed, K Saraswathy, who was with the National Unity Ministry.

The reshuffle followed vacancies in four ministries - economy; investment, trade, and industry; natural resources and environmental sustainability; and entrepreneur development and cooperatives - due to resignations and the end of a senatorship.

The restructured cabinet now sees PKR holding the largest share with nine ministerial posts, followed by Umno with seven ministers, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) with five, DAP (five), Amanah (two), and one each for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

• Johari Abdul Ghani - investment, trade, and industry minister (previously plantation and commodities minister as well as natural resources and environmental sustainability minister)

• Hannah Yeoh - minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) (previously youth and sports minister)

• Steven Sim - entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister (previously human resources minister)

• Liew Chin Tong - deputy finance minister (previously deputy investment, trade and industry minister)

• Abdul Rahman Mohamad - deputy energy transition and water transformation minister (previously deputy human resources minister)

• Chan Foong Hin - deputy agriculture and food security minister (previously deputy plantation and commodities minister)

• Lukanisman Awang Sauni - deputy foreign minister (previously deputy health minister)

• Lim Hui Ying - deputy women, family and community development minister (previously deputy finance minister)

• Adam Adli Abd Halim - deputy higher education minister (previously deputy youth and sports minister)

  

• Hanifah Taib - deputy health minister (previously deputy economy minister)

• Mohamad Alamin - deputy entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister (previously deputy foreign minister)

• Huang Tiong Sii - deputy plantation and commodities minister (previously deputy natural resources and environmental sustainability minister)

• Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan - deputy human resources minister (previously deputy tourism, arts, and culture minister)

• Akmal Nasir - economy minister (previously deputy energy transition and water transformation minister)

• R Ramanan - human resources minister (previously deputy entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister)

• Arthur Joseph Kurup - natural resources and environmental sustainability minister (previously deputy agriculture and food industries minister)

• Noraini Ahmad - plantation and commodities minister (previously deputy women, family, and community development minister)

• Zulkifli Hasan - minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) (previously deputy minister of the same ministry)
