Both parties are indicative of the nation’s future political parties. But they both need to resolve their differences now.
On DAP-PKR seat talks on brink of collapse
Chinese Malaysian: Both DAP and PKR are multiracial parties with DAP being largely Chinese.
-based and PKR, largely Malay-based. Both parties are indicative of the evolving face of political
parties taking shape in Malaysia and the emergence of a truly major multiracial party in the future that can match BN.
For this coming election, both DAP and PKR need to resolve their differences now by allocating the seats in accordance to Chinese-majority seats going to DAP and the Malay-majority ones to PKR to ensure a straight fight.
Richard Loh: I can assume that PKR is not really wanting to cooperate to form a strong opposition to fight BN. The allocation of seats must also be based on a party’s past performance and not on the assumption that because you have Anwar Ibrahim, you are sure to win.
There is no time to fight among yourselves all but to give it all that you have got so that this coming GE will see a big win for the oppositions. PKR, if you choose to let your negotiators fight for what PKR wants only and not giving anything in return, the oppositions is doomed.
My suggestion to DAP is that f PKR cannot compromise, then you go for it alone even if there are three-cornered fights. I am sure DAP can still survive but can PKR survive?

Hindraf leaders to contest in polls?Pukal: Hindraf has to remain an NGO. This will make the Indian community have more confidence in them. The Indian community has actually lost their trust and confidence in politicians. Even before Hindraf, what has the opposition done for Indians. Did they fight and win any rights for Indians?
We respect Hindraf as an NGO but won’t as a political body. I believe Hindraf leader Wathyamoorthy doesn’t want any political influence in Hindraf. We respect Wathya’s motive and we support his move. We hope ‘Makkal Sakthi’ (People’s Power) will remain.
BS Koh:
I think the five Hindraf representatives, imprisoned under ISA, know that MIC president Samy Vellu is scared of losing to the opposition in the coming polls. All Malaysians, especially the Indians, know very well that Samy Vellu is only good for gathering benefits for his own family and cronies while doing nothing or very little for the Indian community.I strongly believe that the use of ISA to detain the five Hindraf leaders was influenced or instigated by Samy Vellu of the MIC.

Let's clean up BN and Umno: Dr MLakshmi: Dr M, you are solely responsible for the pitiful state that Malaysia is in now. During your tenure, Malaysians lived under a perpetual climate of fear, which Abdullah is now carrying on. Whatever lies BN may tell the people (for those who read mainstream papers) we, the people, will be the losers if BN wins again in the coming elections.
Right now, for all their sweet talk, they are sheep in wolves clothing. We have waited so long for a change, the time is right now. BN can just never change. Corruption have become their character. No change of leaders can cleanse their inner rotten core.
It is now or never for us and forever for them. Come what may with all the vote-rigging and phantom voters that BN will put up, if we stand united, we will not fail to send BN a strong message - GET OUT AND STAY OUT. The people's parliament will reign.
Ibrahim Musa K: Dear Pak Lah, it appears that, after a few months of relative silence, the old Dr M is resurfacing and making excessive noise against you. He certainly wants you to be replaced by his long time protege, and in the meantime, attempts to brew antagonism and animosity within your party.
Why are you still hesitating to call for general election? It is to your advantage if you do it now, and there is no worry of not getting enough parliament seats to retain your premiership. Once re-elected, you ought to build a stronger grass-root support and run the country -- without fear, without furore and without favour.
Go for it while you still have the majority backing of the mass. Procrastinate at your own peril.

ACA officer rapped for sloppy work
Nirmala Naidu: It’s obvious that someone has been bought. I have been following the proceedings very closely and I find this inquiry is going to be like the Altantuya case which I have stopped reading altogether. The government should have established the inquiry from the beginning and not had their three-member panel which was a complete waste of time.
The guilty perpetrators had enough time to come up with a game plan thus we have amnesia- ridden evidence, coincidences etc. At the end of the day, Lingam will take the brunt and say, ‘I was just bragging’ and everyone will go scot-free. ‘No wrongdoing’ will be the verdict.
And all of them will get together in Lingam's house for another round of whisky and laughter.
Give me a break.
Dhammika: I have followed the Lingam tape proceedings and find here that lies are being thrown to confuse the commissioners. Anwar Ibrahim should be given the opportunity to be heard. I have faith that he his not going to waste the commission’s time but he will go straight to the truth.
Why is the commission so threatened by him? Remember that the world is watching this case and more importantly the verdict. So let’s move on to include whether the brokering of judges was also to facilitate the brokering of cases.
On Crackdown at KLCC: Dozens picked up
Chan: As a national citizen, I would like to ask BN government:
1 What is progress of the police investigation into the Bax Global Chips stolen in Penang worth RM 50 million?
2.What is progress of the Nurul Jaslin murder case?
3.What happened to Sharlinie?
4.Why was the VK Lingam scndal not detected by the Police or ACA earlier ?
5.Why is it people who fight for human rights land up inside jail but murderers, smugglers bermaharajalela outside? Is There are no justice in Malaysia?

Indian votes will swing unless...Meenachi Indian: In reference to Chan's comment in yesterday’s Vox Populi - I would like to add that PAS never raise a furor with big Hindu celebrations such as the one that was observed in Tumpat yearly. The Kelantanese Hindu community was also given the necessary aid and land to build a temple in the centre of Kota Baru. There is less religious bigotry in Kelantan compared to the west coast states.
And if my memory serves me right, the PAS state government also gave former estate workers (mostly Indians) land before they were thrown out of their estates which went under development. Indians from the west coast of Malaysia must realise that PAS will better take care of their welfare than the current gang in Putrajaya.

Gerakan task force for IndiansMeena Raman: Gerakan is concern about the Indians? What a joke. What happened to Paramjothi? He was penalised by Gerakan for speaking out for the Indians.
Please be more professional. If Gerakan want to use Indians to win an election, please say so. So far, no one from Gerakan has the guts to question the government about the arrest of the Hindraf Leaders under ISA.
If you have not guts to question wrongdoings against Indians, how could you fight for Indian rights. Please forget about this election gimmick. Please continue to bodek your Umno friends for your own gain.

'Allah' ban more political than religious
Anonymous: Regarding usage of the Arabic word ‘Allah’ or, more correctly, ‘al-Lah’ (‘the God’), ulamas should read Ibn Ishaq’s Sirat Rasul Allah, or ‘Life of the Prophet of God’ which lists no fewer than 24 of the Prophet’s contemporaries named ‘Abd Allah’ (‘Slave of God’). Let me emphasise that these were his contemporaries: 24 individuals born polytheist and presumably named such by their polytheist parents. Non-Muslims have not ‘borrowed’ the term from Muslims; rather, Muslims simply continued to use the Arabic word ‘God’ to mean God.
